New Delhi: With less than 100 days left for the Commonwealth Games, the government has come out with a set of guidelines for foreign tourists, including a dress code and respect for local customs.

The guidelines announced by the Centre for safe and honourable tourism say:

* Foreign tourists will be encouraged to adhere to proper dress code and respect local customs
* All hotels and tour operators will train two persons to ensure that all safety norms and guidelines are adhered to
* Organizations will promote awareness on the code among vendors, contractors, taxi drivers, tour guides, event management companies etc
* Those violating the code can be blacklisted

Over one lakh tourists are expected during the Games. The number of tourists coming to India has been growing, but so too are complaints.

"I think Indian men treat Western women a lot differently then they treat Indian women. So that’s been a problem in a few places," said Julian, a tourist from the US.

So, is this new set of guidelines the answer?

"We are not the agency which can reign in people, but we are working with authorities to sensitise people including scooter and taxi drivers," said Tourism Minister Kumari Shelja.

"What we see very often that when tourists travel, they see young ladies and they feel like they are in a lawless state because they are far from their countries," said Ms Cristina Albertin, UNODC.

The big question, however, is will this policy and these codes remain just a policy? Or will something be done? Clearly, a lot needs to be done to welcome the huge rush of foreign visitors who are expected to arrive here for the Commonwealth Games.

quit agree..but not with dress code of tourist..if i m not wrong i seen many of Delhi girls wear western dress..even for tourist Delhi, Agra are not new..otherwise its ok..!! but most importantly some importance guideline are missing..like No guidelines for hygiene, security guildlines,drugs,prostitution…tourist care ,inquiry support,detail maps with out mistakes…….n many more …

elhi government officials recently admitted that there were "no proper guidelines" to check hygiene levels in restaurants and hotels in the city. This candid acceptance is likely to stir concern among overseas visitors who are planning to travel to Delhi for the Commonwealth Games.

I was supposed to graduate August 2008, but with my school it is possible to extend it for the next couple months and have a February 2009 graduation date (but I would be finished with everything by mid-December).

I can stay on as an intern or they will probably put me as a sales assistant and I can take the series 7.

Question – Should I:

(1) take a few more classes to boost my GPA to a 3.4 and try to get a better job while I still intern where I am now or
(2) just close the books and work hard in my job and hope it leads me someplace better

Thank you — I need to make the decision today.

If you really like where you are working then close the books and work hard at that place. If its not your dream company then stay with the school til Feb and take some fun classes while you look into other companies. Its a great gpa, don’t sweat it!
